My Healthy Eating
Before we go any further, we have to understand that I am not an expert, I am only going by my own experiences & the
stuff I have researched & checked on line. All I can say is the menu’s & recipes I post on line, are working for me so there
should be no reason for them not to work for other people.
The best advice I can give anyone is this….Make a list of the 5 foods that you think are doing the most damage to you.
Then, no matter how hard it is, you need to dump these items from your diet completely. Then you have a real chance of
losing the kind of weight you are looking for.
In my case it was Bread, Cheese, Crisps, Chocolate & Boiled sweets. I do a lot of work on my computer in the evenings so
that is my danger time.
Every night I would take a cheese sandwich, a Mars Bar, 2 pkts crisps & a bag of sweets into my computer room. Not
because I was hungry but mainly through habit. In the menu’s I post on line, I do not always list the fruit because I just
assume that everybody knows that you can have as much fruit as you want.
If you consume a lot of sugar, in tea, coffee, Cereals etc. it is surprising how soon you can get used to not having sugar at
all. That is a big help in losing weight.
After just a couple of weeks the taste of sugar repulsed me.
Slimming world says you should have your allocated Syns (SWIPS) and your Healthy extras, especially your Calcium.
I am on 2 Calcium tablets a day for a long-term back injury so I don’t bother with that.
As for the Syns & HEX, I don’t always need them. That’s the beauty of Slimming world, there is plenty of good FREE food to
eat, so why eat the Syns?
Another very valuable piece of advice for you is this…If you have a bad day where you could not resist a Chinese
takeaway, or Pizza, or Fish & Chips etc. DO NOT PANIC.. Enjoy the food and above all don’t feel guilty. Feeling guilty can
lead to depression & depression leads to comfort eating.
Get back on plan the very next day and don’t let it happen too often. You may be surprised that you could still lose weight
at the next weigh in.
It is probably a good idea to take a multi Vitamin tablet each day to make sure you are getting enough vitamins.
Remember that a loss of just 1lb a week is the equivalent of a full sack of potatoes at the end of the year. Most people
could not even lift a sack of potatoes.
Alcohol..
Alcohol is the kiss of death for any diet as it gets you 3 ways..
1) It’s full of Calories.
2) It gives you the “Munchies”
3) It gives you a “Don’t Care” attitude.
I know it sucks having to lose weight but once your head is in gear for it, The health benefits are enormous.
Good Luck in your Journey…..
